Back-to-School Brigade is an annual nationwide school supply collection and distribution campaign. Service member’s eligible dependents can receive back to school free supplies, including free backpacks, through this assistance program. Since its inception, Operation Homefront has distributed over 465,000 backpacks to military children saving military families nearly $50M in school expenses. Over 13 years, Dollar Tree Inc. and Operation Homefront have collected and distributed school supplies to military children each school season.
The Spouses' Club of Fort Eustis (SCFE) is a 501c3 that offers scholarships for graduating high school seniors and continuing education for retired and active duty military members in the Joint Base Langley-Eustis area. They also are active with the local VFW chapters, the Patriots Colony Memory Care unit, local USO and many other service related organizations. The SCFE is also the umbrella organization for the COVA Operation Deploy Your Dress shop which services hundreds of local military ID cardholders with free formalwear.
In Suffolk, MSS of VA collected and donated over 200 pounds of non-perishable food goods for the Suffolk Christian Ministry Food Bank. Suffolk, Virginia has been designated a food desert by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
At Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, the base first sergeants council built more than 400 Thanksgiving baskets, and collected money and food donations. According to Master Sgt. Liesbeth Bowen, 633rd Air Base Wing wing staff first sergeant, there have been a higher demand for families in need of assistance.
As long-term nursing and memory care costs soar, many widowed spouses are unable to afford the level of care they require. As they deal with issues of aging in their 80s and 90s, they often lose financial stability through no fault of their own. Health issues and unexpected longevity overwhelm their resources and that’s where we step in.
For deployed military families, the mission of United Through Reading is crucial. The ability to maintain a sense of family unity while they are separated is paramount to their succeeding and thriving. UTR builds resiliency and strength in military families.
Military members nation-wide confront a multitude of problems during their careers, the last thing they need to worry about is their pet's care during their service commitments. On Dogs on Deployment is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit which provides an online network for service members to search for volunteers who are willing to board their pets during their owner's service commitments. Dogs on Deployment promotes responsible, life-long pet ownership by military pet owners by advocating for military pet owner rights, providing educational resources and granting financial assistance for military pet owners during times of emergency. Join Dogs on Deployment's mission in changing the lives of our military members and their pets.
The Air Force Enlisted Village (AFEV) is a nonprofit organization whose core mission is to provide a safe, secure home for surviving spouses of retired enlisted U.S. Airmen. Located along the beautiful Emerald Coast of northwest Florida in Shalimar near Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field, apartments are available at Bob Hope Village, our independent living community, and at Hawthorn House, our assisted living and memory care residence located on the Bob Hope Village campus.
Offering financial assistance to local schools for anti-drug/-drinking events like After Prom and All-Night-Graduation parties, school supply drives and after school programs.
